The Port Authority of Almería (APA) put out to tender the refurbishment of the access gangways of four ramps used for passenger traffic during the embarkation and disembarkation of vessels at the Port of Almería. The project is split into two tenders, one covering ramps 2 and 3 and the other covering ramps 4 and 5, with a combined budget of €3.2 million.
Two tenders with different budgets and timelines
The base tender budget for the refurbishment of ramps 2 and 3 is €1,893,958.17, VAT included, with a six-month execution period from the signing of the site handover record; the deadline for submitting bids is November 3. For ramps 4 and 5, the base budget is €1,296,003.81, VAT included, with a total execution period of twelve months split into two six-month phases, before and after the 2027 Operación Paso del Estrecho.
Goals of the refurbishment
The facilities to be refurbished are approximately 30 years old, and the project aims to modernize them and improve the quality of service for passengers using the port for connections to Melilla, Morocco and Algeria. The objectives include improving accessibility, increasing thermal and environmental comfort through a new envelope to shield against solar radiation and wind, standardizing the overall look of the port facilities, and adapting the infrastructure to the growing number of calls by larger-capacity vessels, thereby extending the service life of the existing structures.
Passenger boarding bridge contract awarded for ramp 2
APA awarded Talleres Milán a contract worth €1,079,804, VAT included, for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a mobile passenger boarding bridge (finger) for passenger traffic at ramp 2, which will connect the elevated galleries of the Maritime Station with the ferry gangway doors at pier 2 of the Muelle de Ribera I. The execution period for the work, including supply and installation, is eight months, and the boarding bridge must be fully operational before the 2027 Operación Paso del Estrecho.
