The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy reported that Argentine agroindustrial exports reached a record in September 2026, both in volume and in value. A total of 11.43 million tonnes were exported for USD 5,654 million, representing year-on-year growth of 17% in volume and 14% in value, according to data from the Undersecretariat of Agri-food Markets and International Insertion based on INDEC statistics.
The complexes with the strongest growth
Among the best-performing complexes in September, barley stood out with a 276% increase in volume and 311% in value, followed by corn, which grew 112% in volume and 121% in value. Also notable were the olive complex, with increases of 53% and 32%; wheat, with 25% and 34%; pulses, with 16% and 15%; food preparations, with 9% and 13%; and wine products, with 7% and 3% in volume and value respectively.
Cumulative balance and destinations
In the cumulative January-to-September 2026 period, agroindustrial exports also hit an all-time record, totaling 95.73 million tonnes, 11% more than in the same period of 2025, for a value of USD 43,206 million, 13% higher than the previous year. Of the 54 complexes analyzed, 33 showed improvements, including sunflower, pork and sheep. The main destinations by value were India, China, Vietnam, Brazil, the United States, Chile, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Malaysia, which together accounted for 50% of sales, while agroindustry accounted for 56% of the country's total exports.
Context of Argentina's foreign trade
The agroindustrial rebound took place in a month in which Argentina's total exports reached USD 10 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23.5% driven by both prices (16%) and volumes (6%), according to data released by Buenos Aires Herald and reproduced by Jornal Portuario. That performance contributed to a trade surplus of USD 2,976 million in September, the highest since June, in a context in which primary products and manufactures of agricultural origin accounted for 73% of total exports between January and September 2026.
