Boluda Shipping and TMEIC announced the implementation of the Pulse Mobile digital gate management platform at the Boluda Maritime Terminals facility in Tenerife, Canary Islands. This is a new operating model for managing truck-terminal interactions that, according to the companies, seeks to address rising truck volumes, limited space, and growing pressure to improve efficiency and sustainability in port operations.
How the New Process Works
The system moves key operational activities forward, such as information validation and issue management, to resolve problems before trucks arrive at the gate. The platform tracks the truck's entire journey, from the moment the carrier receives the load order through terminal gate entry, yard operations and exit, providing real-time visibility for both Boluda and the trucking community. Pulse Mobile is vendor-agnostic, allowing it to integrate with the terminal's existing systems, such as the TOS and PCS, without the need to replace them.
Executive Statements
Gonzalo Calero Gómez, CEO of Boluda Maritime Terminals, noted that rising truck volumes, limited space and sustainability goals are pushing terminals to seek greater efficiency, and that the company is turning to technology to redefine how it operates. The executive added that this level of innovation requires a partner with both technological capability and a shared vision of connected ports, within the framework of Boluda's evolution toward more efficient, user-oriented terminals.
Expected Results
According to TMEIC, previous Pulse Mobile deployments at other operations have resolved up to 80% of issues before trucks reached the gate, cut gate cycle times by as much as 50%, and increased lane availability by up to 98%, while also enabling trucking companies to complete up to two additional trips per day and reducing maintenance and spare parts spending on equipment such as kiosks and printers by up to 60%. Port Technology clarified that these figures correspond to previous deployments of the platform and not to results specifically measured in Tenerife.
Francisco Grau, General Manager of TMEIC Port Technologies, S.L.U., stated that the global maritime industry is at an inflection point where digital transformation is enabling a new generation of interconnected, data-driven and sustainable operations, and highlighted the collaboration with Boluda as part of the company's vision for the future of terminals.
