Sanitary and phytosanitary authorities in Antigua and Barbuda, Chile, Algeria, China and Paraguay informed Brazil of the opening of their markets to new Brazilian agricultural products. The joint announcement was made by Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Brasília, on Tuesday the 29th.
The case of DDG
DDG is a byproduct of corn ethanol production, with a protein content of around 30%, and is used as an alternative to soybean meal and corn meal in cattle and poultry feed. Brazil is one of the world's largest producers of this input. In 2024, Morocco had already opened its market to imports of Brazilian DDG.
Context of the 700 markets
Days later, on October 13, Brazil reported that since early 2023 it had achieved the opening of 700 new international markets for agricultural products. The figure was announced during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, in the context of progress in trade relations with various countries and economic blocs.
More exports to the European Union
At the same event, growth in Brazilian sales to the European Union was highlighted following the provisional entry into force of the trade agreement with Mercosur. Between May and September of this year, Brazilian exports to the European bloc rose 30.7% compared with the same period the previous year, according to data presented by the ministry.
