Bunge and Associated British Ports (ABP) have reached a combined total of more than 1 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds handled through their joint agribulk operation at the Port of Immingham since the partnership began in 2022. The scheme combines ABP's port infrastructure with Bunge's sourcing, processing, trading and logistics network to move agricultural commodities across the United Kingdom and connect local producers with international markets.
Origin and expansion
The collaboration began with the opening of Shed 35, a storage facility purpose-built for agribulk at ABP's Humber International Terminal. Strong demand subsequently led to the development of Shed 36, raising the site's total storage capacity to approximately 75,000 tonnes and making the operation one of the largest agribulk handling hubs in the Humber region.
Cargoes and statements
The terminal handles a wide range of products: imports include soybean meal and sunflower meal certified under the PRO-S sustainability standard, while exports include feed wheat, malting barley, beans and rye. James Maw, Bunge's UK Country Manager, noted that the British agricultural sector depends on strong connections between producers, consumers and international markets, and that these flows are part of Bunge's integrated value chains, which bring greater transparency and traceability from origin to end market.
Paul Litten, ABP's Head of Commercial for the Humber region, described the milestone of one million tonnes handled through the Humber International Terminal and the Inner Dock as a standout achievement and a testament to the strength of the long-standing partnership between the two companies at the Port of Immingham. Litten added that ABP will continue to support Bunge's future growth and ambitions at the site.
The Port of Immingham is the UK's largest port by tonnage and provides access to major international trade routes. Its Humber International Terminal is a key deep-water bulk cargo handling facility serving grains, biomass and other dry bulk cargoes.
