Carnival Corporation, together with its brands Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Princess Cruises, donated a total of $25,000 to the humanitarian organization Direct Relief to support recovery efforts in Hawaii following a series of hurricanes that struck the islands during the season.
Use of the Funds
The donation combines contributions from Carnival Corporation and from each of the three cruise lines, and is intended to address the immediate relief needs being coordinated by Direct Relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Nolo, as well as to sustain long-term recovery efforts following Hurricanes Lala and Lowell and other severe storms that recently affected the islands. Cruise Industry News added that the region was also hit by Hurricanes Rachel and Polo during this season.
Carnival's Presence in Hawaii
Carnival Corporation's brands make more than 200 calls per year at five Hawaiian destinations: Nawiliwili, Kahului, Honolulu, Hilo and Kailua Kona, and together carry approximately 528,000 passengers annually to the region, placing them among the leading cruise operators serving that market.
Direct Relief's Response
Direct Relief is working alongside local healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations and health agencies to assess ongoing recovery needs. Through its Hurricane Preparedness Program, the organization pre-positioned three emergency medical aid reserves in Hawaii and distributed field medic packs, water purification supplies and personal care items for displaced residents. Since the Kona Low storm system struck the islands on March 10, 2026, followed by Hurricanes Lala and Lowell, the organization has delivered more than $800,000 in medical assistance to health centers, clinics and nonprofit organizations throughout the archipelago.
Affected Itineraries
The string of hurricanes also forced changes to cruise itineraries in the area: the Carnival Panorama had to adjust its route for the second time due to the storms, while in September the Grand Princess and the Ruby Princess also had their itineraries altered because of the hurricanes.
