Carnival Cruise Line opened bookings for its 2028/29 cruise program from Baltimore, featuring itineraries aboard the Carnival Luminosa and the Carnival Miracle to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada and the Caribbean, connecting the city to 22 destinations.
Luminosa Itineraries
The Carnival Luminosa will make its debut in Baltimore in November 2028, fresh out of dry dock and featuring renovated spaces, and will operate seven- to 14-day itineraries through April 2029. The seven- and eight-day cruises will visit the Bahamas, while the nine-day sailings will head to the Eastern Caribbean, with calls at Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Amber Cove. The longer voyages, of 12 and 14 days under the Carnival Journeys program, will reach the Southern Caribbean, with stops in Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Croix, St. Maarten and St. Thomas.
Miracle Itineraries
The Carnival Miracle will add new sailings between September 2028 and April 2029, combining cruises to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/New England and the Eastern and Southern Caribbean. It will offer six- to eight-day voyages to the Bahamas and Bermuda, nine-day cruises to the Eastern Caribbean with calls at Amber Cove, San Juan and St. Maarten or St. Thomas, and eight 12- to 14-day voyages under Carnival Journeys to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean, visiting Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curaçao, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Tortola. It will also run two eight-day cruises to Canada/New England in September 2028, with port calls in Portland (Maine), Halifax (Nova Scotia) and Saint John (New Brunswick).
Second Season with Two Ships
This will be the second consecutive season with two Carnival ships homeported in Baltimore, following 2027-28, which marked the first time two of the line's vessels were based in that city, with the Pride and the Miracle.
Redeployment Following Exit from Australia
The Luminosa's new deployment comes after Carnival confirmed this month that the ship, along with the Carnival Adventure, will leave the Australian market in March 2028, while the Luminosa will continue operating after being reassigned to Baltimore. The Luminosa is expected to depart Sydney in March 2028 before undergoing a scheduled dry dock and beginning its new season in Baltimore. Carnival attributed the reduction of its fleet in Australia to the need for long-term operational certainty and globally competitive conditions, amid Australia's development of a longer-term regulatory framework for cruising, with current agreements extended through the end of 2028. The line will keep two year-round ships based in Australia: the Carnival Splendor from Sydney and the Carnival Encounter from Brisbane.
Carnival had already announced it would operate two ships from Baltimore in the 2027/28 season, with the Miracle alongside the Pride. The new program pairs the Miracle with the Luminosa for 2028/29, and Carnival confirmed that the Luminosa will undergo a refurbishment ahead of its Baltimore debut, although it did not disclose the shipyard, the contract value or the full scope of the work.
