Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Radiance welcomed passengers back in Long Beach on Sunday, October 3, after completing a scheduled 15-day dry dock at the Seaspan shipyard in Victoria, Canada.
During the maintenance period, the ship received multiple upgrades, including the renovation of the Effy jewelry boutique and updates to guest spaces both inside and on the open deck areas.
The ship also returned with Carnival's new 'From Sea to Shining Sea' bow badge, which the cruise line says symbolizes the company's American spirit and reinforces its position as 'America's Cruise Line.' According to Cruise Industry News, this design previously debuted on Carnival Legend and is expected to be rolled out across Carnival's entire U.S. fleet during dry docks and newbuilds, with the exception of Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Tropicale, which will feature the Texas star on their bows in 2028.
With the upgrades completed, Carnival Radiance resumes its year-round sailing operation from Long Beach, offering four- and five-day cruises to Baja California and the Mexican Riviera, with stops at destinations such as Ensenada and Catalina Island, as well as select 14-day voyages to Hawaii as part of the Carnival Journeys program.
Ship History
According to Cruise Critic, Carnival Radiance entered service in 2000 as Carnival Victory and in 2021 underwent an extensive $200 million renovation that included the addition of the WaterWorks water slides, the SkyCourse ropes course, a thermal suite, and Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken restaurant, after which it was renamed Carnival Radiance. Cruise Industry News adds that the 101,509-ton ship is the third vessel in the company's Destiny class and marked 25 years of service for Carnival this past August.
