China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. (CMES) officially opened its European Marketing Center in London, with the goal of strengthening its overseas presence and improving its service capacity for clients in Europe and nearby markets. The opening ceremony took place on October 11 in the British capital.
Officials present at the ceremony
The event was attended by CMES General Manager Wang Yongxin; the Chairman of the China Shipowners' Mutual Assurance Association, Xu Lirong; the General Manager of COSCO Shipping (Europe), Qian Ming; and Yuan Bo, Assistant General Manager of CMES and General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping, who together unveiled the new center. According to the Chinese source, also present were the Vice Chairman of the shipowners' mutual assurance association, Wang Yanping, and its General Manager, Song Chunfeng.
London as a key hub
The new center is based in London because it is one of the world's most influential shipping and financial hubs, bringing together shipowners, charterers, financial institutions, insurers, brokers, and maritime legal and service firms. From this base, CMES aims to improve its responsiveness to the market and offer more efficient services to its clients in Europe and neighboring regions.
Part of the global expansion strategy
The opening of the center is part of CMES's internationalization strategy, as the company operates globally in sectors such as crude oil transport, dry bulk cargo transport, and specialized shipping services. The company stated that the move will help accelerate its localized overseas operations, strengthen business coordination across regions, and advance toward its goal of becoming a world-class shipping company.
Adds to an existing global network
The new center in London joins the network CMES already maintains through subsidiaries and regional centers in Asia, Europe, and the Americas, further consolidating its prior international presence.
