China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) and RINA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for strategic cooperation in maritime safety, digitalization, operational excellence and emerging shipping technologies. According to RINA, the agreement creates a platform for long-term collaboration between both organizations.
Scope of the agreement
The memorandum will allow CMES and RINA to combine their expertise and explore opportunities that support innovation and the evolving needs of the maritime sector. The partnership expands the existing relationship between both companies and provides a cooperation framework for a range of technical and operational areas.
Areas of joint work
Under the MoU, the companies will explore initiatives related to fleet safety and risk management, carbon emissions management and regulatory compliance, as well as digitalization and data-driven vessel operations. The application of artificial intelligence in predictive maintenance, energy efficiency and operational decision-making is also envisaged.
Alternative fuels and innovation
The agreement also includes the study of alternative fuels, smart navigation technologies, automation and other innovations relevant to the future development of the maritime industry. The cooperation will seek to promote technical exchange, research activities and knowledge sharing to sustain operational excellence.
Through this collaboration, CMES and RINA aim to help both organizations address a rapidly evolving regulatory and technological landscape in the maritime sector.
