The Chilean Economic Development Agency (Corfo) presented the Integrated Territorial Program (PTI) for Logistics of Arica and Parinacota to the Arica Port Logistics Community, an initiative funded by the Regional Productive Development Committee (CDPR). The meeting was held in the EFE Arica y Parinacota Maestranza hall and brought together representatives from Empresa Portuaria Arica (EPA), Terminal Puerto Arica (TPA), Inacap, Universidad Arturo Prat (Unap), Sitrans, Maersk, Ultramar and EFE, among other stakeholders.
Program objectives
Corfo's regional director, Mirtha Arancibia, stated that the initiative seeks to drive a roadmap to boost the logistics value chain, create opportunities for SMEs in the sector, and consolidate the region as a key platform for trade with Peru, Bolivia and international markets. The Logistics PTI will implement a three-year territorial management model aimed at the competitive scale-up of Arica's logistics industry, focusing on strengthening the handling of cargo originating from southern Peru and Bolivia, particularly in the agrifood, forestry and mining sectors.
Local stakeholders' views
EPA's general manager, Jorge Cáceres, explained that the program will contribute to building social capital in the logistics sector and to strengthening local companies and entrepreneurs. EFE Arica y Parinacota's manager, Yuny Arias, highlighted that the region has a strong logistics identity and that these instruments boost joint efforts between the public and private sectors. For his part, Inacap Arica's vice-rector, Marcelo Riquelme, underscored Arica's strategic position and offered the institution's support to the process led by Corfo.
Work plan
For the first year of implementation, Corfo's initiative has budgeted seminars and outreach events, specialized consultancy services, workshops and technical roundtables, cross-cutting studies, and participation in trade missions and networking activities. The Logistics PTI will run alongside the Arica and Parinacota Cross-Border HUB Strengthening Program, funded by the Regional Government through the Regional Fund for Productivity and Development (FRPD) during 2026.
