Cunard unveiled a new program of 93 voyages to be sailed between October 2028 and May 2029, calling at 104 destinations in 49 countries and offering the chance to visit 64 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The announcement includes Queen Mary 2's 500th transatlantic crossing and a world voyage by Queen Elizabeth.
Queen Mary 2 returns to Liverpool
Queen Mary 2 will offer transatlantic crossings, Caribbean voyages from Southampton and New York, a 14-night Norway and Northern Lights itinerary, and a 14-night Western Mediterranean voyage. The season culminates in the ship's 500th transatlantic crossing, a 21-night round-trip voyage from New York, with embarkation also available in Hamburg, Southampton and Liverpool. This crossing will mark the first time since 2015 that passengers will be able to depart from Liverpool on a Cunard transatlantic crossing.
Queen Elizabeth's world voyage and South America for Queen Anne
Queen Elizabeth, with capacity for 2,074 passengers, will sail from Barcelona to Miami before offering four 14-night Caribbean cruises from Miami, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve departures with fireworks in St Thomas. She will then embark on a 115-night round-trip world voyage between Southampton and Miami, calling at New Zealand, Australia, Asia and South Africa, marking her return to New Zealand after four years. Meanwhile, Queen Anne will return to South America in 2029 with an 86-night voyage from Southampton, which can be extended to 90 nights from Hamburg, and will include an overnight stay in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival, along with overnight calls in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Valparaíso and Callao.
The program adds seven maiden calls, including Cunard's first-ever visit to Praia, Cape Verde. Queen Elizabeth will call for the first time at Fort-de-France, Martinique, and Nawiliwili, Hawaii, while Queen Anne will make inaugural calls at San Juan, Puerto Rico; St Thomas; Castries, Saint Lucia; and Colón, Panama. Paul Ludlow, President of Cunard, noted that Queen Mary 2's 500th transatlantic crossing will be one of the most significant moments in the company's modern history, reconnecting Liverpool with its transatlantic service.
Fleet reduction
The new deployment comes amid a reduction of Cunard's fleet, which will go from four to three ships after Queen Anne is transferred to sister brand P&O Cruises in May 2029, following a refurbishment and renaming. As a result, in 2029 the full world voyage will be carried out solely by Queen Elizabeth, unlike in 2028, when both Queen Elizabeth and Queen Anne had world cruises scheduled. Following Queen Anne's departure, Cunard's fleet will consist of Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.
