Disney Cruise Line revealed details of its new ship, the Disney Believe, through a treasure hunt held aboard the Disney Wish among journalists, influencers and content creators. The company confirmed hull number 723 for the new vessel and announced the keel laying at the Meyer Werft shipyard, with a commemorative coin featuring Tinker Bell, the character who will adorn the ship's bow. The event culminated in a livestream on October 7 from the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the Disney Wish, broadcast via YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Clues and rewards
During the hunt, participants moved through different areas of the Disney Wish, such as the Oceaneer Club, the Grand Hall, the 1923 restaurant and Arendelle, solving riddles tied to films such as Frozen, Tangled, Zootopia, Inside Out, Snow White and The Little Mermaid. The clues led hunters to discover a new cocktail featuring a large bubble that bursts into vapor, served at the bar, and a new chocolate ice cream flavor topped with a crunchy orange coating, sampled at the candy shop. There was also a bingo challenge with 16 onboard activity squares, which included a private meet-and-greet with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia.
Confirmed spaces
Following the October 7 broadcast, Disney confirmed that the Believe will feature the first-ever theatrical adaptation of Encanto, a family dining venue inspired by Frozen called Oaken's Table, and a Grand Hall centered around a bronze statue of Moana. The ship will also include Gazelle, a Zootopia-inspired entertainment space that will offer family activities by day and transform into an adults-only exclusive venue at night, along with a Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde show debuting for the first time across the fleet. New dining options include the 1923 and Worlds of Marvel restaurants, the Big Hero Sips and Café Kakamora coffee shops, and adults-only bars such as Sea Notes, inspired by The Little Mermaid, Wishing Well, based on Snow White, and the Skygazers pub.
Specifications and itineraries
The Believe will sail with 2,500 passengers within the Wish class, powered by liquefied natural gas and with a tonnage of 144,000 GT. The ship, currently under construction at the German shipyard Meyer Werft, will offer four- and five-night cruises through the Caribbean and the Bahamas from Port Everglades starting in December 2027, with calls at the private destinations of Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, as well as Nassau.
Expansion plans
Tracy Wilson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Operations for Disney Cruise Line, described the Disney Encanto show as 'spectacular' and noted that the reveal 'exceeded all expectations.' Wilson also revealed that the company plans to expand to 13 ships by the end of 2031 and that, following the Believe, it will develop a new ship platform of around 100,000 GT, 20% larger than the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder but smaller than the Dream and Wish classes, with three units under construction at Meyer Werft and deliveries starting in 2028.
