Disney Cruise Line confirmed that its new ship, the Disney Believe, will be homeported at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting in December 2027. The ship will set sail on its maiden voyage on December 18 of that year and will offer four- and five-night itineraries to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
Details about the new ship were unveiled during a special live-streamed event. According to Cruise Industry News, the presentation took place aboard the Disney Dream, while Seatrade Cruise reported that the reveal happened aboard the Disney Wish, following a three-day treasure hunt involving media, influencers and content creators both onboard and at Castaway Cay.
Entertainment and dining
The Disney Believe, the fourth ship in the Wish class with capacity for 2,500 passengers, will feature the world's first stage adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 'Encanto,' along with a 'Zootopia'-themed lounge featuring an interactive show starring Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The ship will also include a 'Moana'-style Grand Hall, the 'Frozen'-inspired Oaken's Table restaurant, and the Sea Notes piano bar, themed after 'The Little Mermaid.' The ship's largest suite, the Believe Tower Suite, will be inspired by the Magic Kingdom and will accommodate eight guests across two levels.
15-year agreement
The addition of the Disney Believe comes as part of a 15-year agreement between Disney Cruise Line and Port Everglades, which the port says will help drive tourism and economic activity throughout Broward County, supporting local businesses, jobs and the hospitality industry. Tracy Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of operations for Disney Cruise Line, highlighted the importance of Port Everglades to the cruise line, while Joseph Morris, chief executive and port director, called the choice an excellent outcome of the relationship between both parties.
Port Everglades welcomes more than 5 million passengers a year and is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. Bookings for the Disney Believe's inaugural season will open on October 19, 2026, as announced by both Disney Cruise Line and Port Everglades.
