Holland America Line has opened bookings for five newly added voyages aboard the Oosterdam, which will undergo the Evolution transformation in Marseille, France. According to the company, this represents the largest investment in the fleet in its 153-year history. The new departures will begin on October 31, 2027, after the start of the ship's refurbishment program was moved up from its originally planned date due to strong guest demand.
Inaugural Adriatic Voyage
Leading the collection is the inaugural cruise following the transformation, a 10-day Adriatic Antiquities voyage departing from Civitavecchia, the port serving Rome, and ending in Trieste, Italy. The itinerary includes destinations in Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia, with calls that allow guests to visit Pompeii, Sicily, the Greek island of Corfu, the Bay of Kotor and the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
From the Mediterranean to the Caribbean
Following that first voyage, the Oosterdam will complete four additional sailings taking it from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean. On November 10, 2027, an 11-day Adriatic Antiquities cruise will depart from Trieste bound for Piraeus (Athens), calling at Croatia, the Greek islands and Istanbul. It will be followed, on November 21, by a 7-day Mediterranean Splendor voyage between Piraeus and Barcelona, with stops at the Greek islands and Malta. On November 28, a 13-day Cultural Journey itinerary will begin from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, with calls in Spain and Gibraltar, and the program will close with an 11-day Caribbean cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale on December 11, 2027 and returning to the same port.
New Onboard Categories and Spaces
The Evolution transformation will bring new stateroom and suite categories to the Oosterdam, including Single Verandas, Bridgeview Suites with forward-facing views, Vista Suites and a reimagined Pinnacle Suite. Among the public spaces, the ship will debut the Grand Dutch Café and a redesigned Ocean Bar, incorporating features already found on the company's Pinnacle Class ships.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, said the Oosterdam will be the first ship to emerge from Holland America Evolution and will mark the start of a new era for the fleet. The executive invited guests to be among the first to experience a transformation that, she noted, builds on what already sets the company apart while introducing new features.
