Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW) will take place from November 15 to 21, 2026, marking its tenth anniversary, organized by the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board (HKMPDB), with its main venue at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and other locations across the city. The event will bring together maritime professionals from around the world to address the digitalization and decarbonization of shipping.
Central Theme
The 2026 edition carries the theme 'Trusted Resilience Powering Global Maritime Trade,' reflecting the current pressures facing shippers and their logistics partners: fragmented trade flows, reconfigured supply chains, shifting freight costs, and the accelerating pace of decarbonization and digitalization in the sector.
Hong Kong as a Green and Financial Hub
Amid tightening international decarbonization standards, Hong Kong is seeking to establish itself as a bunkering and green marine fuel trading hub through a network of 'Green Energy Corridors' in partnership with production bases in mainland China. The city also highlights its financial role: the number of ship lessors rose from 11 in 2020 to 64 in 2024, driven by government tax incentives and deep capital markets that finance marine insurance and green technology projects.
Maritime Arbitration
In terms of dispute resolution, Hong Kong recorded a 56% increase in maritime arbitration cases in 2025, and remains one of the four arbitration seats designated under BIMCO's standard clause, alongside London, New York, and Singapore, in addition to being the leading seat for disputes linked to mainland China.
Program of Activities
The HKMW 2026 program will feature the participation of more than 80 international organizations and around 60 events, with the opening ceremony on November 16 at the HKCEC, the World Maritime Merchants Forum and the Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) on November 16 and 17, the Hong Kong Global Maritime Trade Summit and the HKMPDB Flagship Summit, BIMCO's debut on November 18, and the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) forum on alternative fuels on November 19.
The week is organized by the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board (HKMPDB), with the Hong Kong Shipowners Association and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum serving as co-organizers, and is supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Invest Hong Kong.
