Maersk and MSC announced the addition of the port of Suape, in northeastern Brazil, to the rotation of their joint service connecting Mexico, the United States, Colombia and the South American east coast. The first call is scheduled for October 26, 2026, with the vessel MSC Yamuna as the first containership to arrive under the new scheme.
Two names for the same service
Maersk markets this route under the name UCLA, while MSC identifies it as Gulf to SAEC I. Both carriers announced on October 12 that Suape would be added to the southbound rotation, between the ports of Cartagena and Santos.
Discrepancies in vessel identification
Maersk stated that the inaugural voyage corresponds to the vessel MSC Yamuna under voyage number 640S, while MSC identified the same vessel as MSC Yamuna VI. In both cases, the arrival in Suape remains scheduled for October 26.
Full rotation and connection with Manaus
The service's new rotation includes the ports of Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, Cartagena, Suape, Santos, Itapoá, Paranaguá, Itajaí, a second call at Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, and the return to Veracruz. Maersk also highlighted that the expansion will provide greater connectivity options for cargo bound for Manaus, integrating its ocean services with inland logistics solutions.
Service capacity
According to information from Kuehne+Nagel cited by the Panamanian outlet, the service operates with eight containerships of approximately 5,300 TEU average capacity each. Maersk did not provide specific transit times or the additional cargo volumes it expects to move with this change.
