Maersk announced the appointment of Jorge Monzalvo as the company's new CEO in Mexico, a position he will assume as of January 1, 2027. The handover is part of a leadership transition, as Patricia Pérez, the current CEO in the country, will move into a new role in the United States.
The New CEO's Career
Monzalvo has more than 20 years of experience within Maersk, during which he worked in Mexico, Panama and China, holding positions in commercial, operations, finance, product and customer experience areas. Among his recent responsibilities, he led the launch in Mexico of Sealand, Maersk's brand for intra-Americas trade, and later served as Director of Customer Experience. Since January 2026, he has led the company's inland logistics products in the country, a key area for connecting ports, industrial hubs and the border with the United States.
Expansion of the Logistics Network
The leadership change comes as Maersk expands its infrastructure in Mexico, which includes more than 59,000 m² of storage facilities in Mexico City and Tijuana, and 250,000 m² of warehouse and air cargo facility capacity in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. The company also opened a new warehouse in Manzanillo, with an investment of more than 15 million dollars, and plans to expand its capacity in Guadalajara and Monterrey, although according to T21 the announcement did not specify amounts or timelines for those projects.
Statements
Ditlev Blicher, Maersk's Regional President for North America, noted that Mexico is a strategic market for the company and that Monzalvo has deep knowledge of customers, operations and the needs of the Mexican market, making him a key leader for the company's next phase of growth in the country. For his part, Monzalvo stated that he takes on the challenge with a commitment to supporting customers in their growth and helping them make their supply chains more efficient and resilient.
Patricia Pérez's Continuity
During her tenure leading Maersk Mexico, Patricia Pérez led the business's evolution during a key period for Mexico's positioning within North America's supply chains. With nearly two decades of experience at Maersk, she will continue contributing to the company's growth from her new role in the United States, although sources did not specify what that new position will be.
