Peru's Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) addressed investment proposals for Callao's port terminals during a meeting between Minister José Tangherlini Casal and lawmaker Auristela Obando. At the meeting, the minister provided an update on ongoing contract addenda and proposals submitted by the port's terminal operators.
Truck staging yard for Muelle Sur
Tangherlini explained that the proposal related to Muelle Sur involves building a truck staging yard for vehicles entering the terminal, noting that this infrastructure must be complemented by road works to improve traffic flow in the area.
Master plan with the APN
The MTC head also noted that the ministry is working with the National Port Authority (APN) to have the master plan approved by mid-November, which would allow progress on the processing of pending contract addenda.
Other topics discussed
The meeting also touched on telecommunications connectivity in rural areas. For her part, lawmaker Obando expressed her willingness to collaborate through Congress's State Modernization Committee in reviewing administrative procedures, based on the needs identified by the Executive Branch. Finally, a follow-up meeting was proposed, to be coordinated through the MTC's parliamentary affairs office, to track progress on the issues discussed.
