The Alicante Port Authority closed the first eight months of 2026 with revenue of €10.96 million, up 9.4% compared to the same period in 2025. The result was driven by a 22.8% increase in cargo traffic and a 32.9% rise in container traffic, which reached 167,361 TEU.
National Leadership
The port handled 2.24 million tonnes between January and August, positioning it as the growth leader among Spanish ports, well above the 1.2% average recorded across the 27 port facilities analyzed within the national port system.
Financial Results
Pre-tax profit rose to €2.13 million, a year-on-year increase of 36.5%. The upturn in container traffic particularly boosted revenue from the activity fee, which grew 25.2% to €2.35 million. Operating expenses rose by just 2.6%, to €10.24 million, below the pace of revenue growth, which led operating profit to improve by 53.4%, to €1.86 million.
Financial Position
The port authority maintains a solid financial position, with no debt to credit institutions. Combined financial liquidity stood at €25.3 million, compared to €19.85 million at the close of 2025, representing an increase of €5.46 million.
Other Board Decisions
At the same Board of Directors meeting, chaired by Luis Rodríguez, the board approved the mutually agreed termination of the concession for the Cabo de las Huertas Lighthouse granted to Restaura Gestión Forty, as well as the expansion of the Samoa restaurant's terrace by 248.47 square meters. It also authorized the temporary transfer of 31,300 square meters of Berth 19 to Liebherr Container Cranes Limited for a project in Khor Fakkan, and temporarily suspended part of the authorization held by Marina Puerta de Alicante in order to prepare for the start of the round-the-world sailing race in January 2027. Rodríguez also announced that the First Innovation Awards would be held on December 14.
