The Port of Helsingborg, in Sweden, has ordered its first two electric reachstackers from Kalmar, along with the MyKalmar Insight with Inspector machine inspection solution. Delivery is scheduled for the end of the second quarter of 2027, and the order was booked in Kalmar's third-quarter 2026 order intake.
Framework Agreement for up to Nine Units
This is the first equipment order placed under a six-year framework agreement signed between the port and Kalmar in the second quarter of 2026. That agreement provides for the potential acquisition of up to nine zero-emission machines, as part of the port's gradual phase-out of its diesel fleet.
Statements from Both Parties
Christina Argelius, Technical Director of the Port of Helsingborg, stated that the addition of these first two units under the new agreement represents an important step in the transition toward lower-emission port operations, and highlighted the port's commitment to replacing diesel machinery in a structured, long-term manner. For his part, Eric Wass, sales representative for Kalmar Sweden, noted that moving away from diesel gives terminals greater security against the unpredictability of fuel prices.
A Pioneering Port in Sweden
Located on the Swedish coast of the Øresund strait, the Port of Helsingborg is the country's second-largest container terminal and a key hub for maritime, road, and rail transport. In 2024, it became the first port in Sweden to order an electric Kalmar reachstacker, and according to Port Technology, it currently operates three eco reachstackers from the brand.
