The Port of Rosario handled 2,365,214 tonnes between January and September 2026, 22.4% more than in the same period of the previous year, marking its best performance in five years. The growth was driven mainly by agribulk cargo, although container operations also showed an increase in the quarter.
Sepor and TPR, drivers of growth
The Sepor terminal accounted for the largest volume with 1,943,367 tonnes of agribulk cargo, 30.4% more than the previous year. Terminal Puerto Rosario (TPR), for its part, handled 421,847 tonnes and 83,795 TEUs in the first nine months of the year, and in the third quarter moved 25,164 TEUs, 9.3% more than in the same period of 2025. Between July and September, the port's two terminals received a combined 66 vessel calls.
Part of a broader provincial balance
Rosario's figures are part of the report released by the Santa Fe Ministry of Productive Development, which covers the province's public ports and the Santafesina Free Trade Zone. Together, this system handled more than 3.3 million tonnes through September 2026. The Minister of Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini, said the province has placed public ports and logistics at the center of its productive strategy, highlighting the consolidation of bulk cargo in Rosario, the reactivation of Villa Constitución and the boost to steel shipments from the Free Trade Zone.
Other ports in the system also grew
Terminal II of the Port of Villa Constitución handled 245,520 tonnes for the year, 28% more than in 2025, with quarterly shipments up 39% versus 2025 and 202% versus 2023. In addition, the province awarded Terminal I, inactive for nearly seven decades, to the joint venture formed by Southern Silica and Esesa, with a committed private investment of 4.5 million dollars to handle sand and aggregates bound for Vaca Muerta. The Santafesina Free Trade Zone, meanwhile, added 579,910 tonnes of bulk cargo, up 30% year-on-year, moved by barge and truck, and handled a steel billet operation with ArcelorMittal Acindar and Gerdau totaling 80,558 tonnes.
Santa Fe capital and Reconquista in transition
At the Port of Santa Fe, the Agribulk Terminal accumulated 122,517 tonnes for the year and is moving forward with dynamic tariffs and agreements with regional cooperatives, while a tender is being prepared to grant a concession for the Container and General Cargo Terminal, which recorded 588 TEUs in transshipment. In the north of the province, the Port of Reconquista logged 42 island cattle shipments for the year and increased its nautical assistance services by 250%, with nautical mooring capacity growing 50% to 1,200 vessels. The Secretary of Transport and Logistics, Mónica Alvarado, noted that the port system operates as an interconnected network in which each terminal plays a specific role in the value chain.
