The Port of San Nicolás inaugurated a new dock access point and a holding yard for heavy cargo trucks, two projects that are part of the comprehensive transformation plan the Management Consortium has been carrying out since 2021 to improve vehicle flow, controls and working conditions at the terminal.
Easing truck traffic
The main purpose of the new holding yard is to ease truck traffic at the dock, allowing for temporary parking and regulating the entry of heavy vehicles in order to streamline their movement within the port facility.
Centralized controls
The new access point brings together in a single location the procedures and controls carried out by the Port Authority, Customs, Immigration, External Control, Security and the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), and also incorporates a biometric registration system that validates personal data, authorizations, contract validity and labor documentation.
Improvements for staff
The works also added new facilities for workers, including equipped restrooms, a kitchen, a dining area and air-conditioned spaces, as well as an underground duct built beneath the pedestrian walkway to address stormwater drainage in the access area.
Tribute to Stella Paladini
During the opening ceremony, a tribute was paid to Stella Paladini, whose name now identifies the new dock access point, with the unveiling of a memorial totem in her honor. The ceremony was led by the Management Consortium's president, Cecilia Comerio, together with board members, union representatives and port workers.
Company officials stated that each project is part of a transformation process begun in 2021, aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving operations and preparing the port for future challenges, in a context where the upgrading of ports and logistics corridors is highly relevant for Argentine foreign trade.
