Italian classification and certification society RINA announced the appointment of Paolo Moretti as the group's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, succeeding Carlo Luzzatto, who had held the position since December 2023.
Changes in the management structure
RINA S.p.A.'s new board of directors, which met on October 23, confirmed Moretti's appointment; until then he had served as the company's Managing Director. As part of the reorganization, Giosuè Vezzuto took over as CEO of RINA Services, the group company responsible for marine and certification operations previously led by Moretti. Ugo Salerno will continue as Executive Chairman, overseeing communications and institutional relations.
Moretti's career
Moretti is a naval engineer who joined RINA in 1997. Throughout his career he held various positions of increasing responsibility in Italy and abroad, focused on strategic and commercial development, including Managing Director of Marine, Executive Vice President of Marine Strategic Development, and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). According to Safety4Sea, he served as CEO of RINA Services between 2020 and 2026, overseeing ship classification and certification activities.
Growth strategy
The leadership change comes as part of the growth strategy agreed with shareholders Registro Italiano Navale and Fondo Italiano d'Investimento. According to both sources, over the past five years RINA has more than doubled its annual revenue, which exceeded €1,000 million.
New CEO's priorities
Upon taking office, Moretti stated that the group's challenge is to keep turning its strategic objectives into concrete results, simplifying the way it operates and investing in increasingly digital and advanced services.
