Silversea kicked off its 2026-27 Antarctic season with the first departures of Silver Endeavour from King George Island and Silver Wind from Puerto Williams, Chile. The season comprises 40 voyages operated by Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind and Silver Cloud through March 2027, and gives guests on the initial departures a preview of The Cormorant at 55 South, a hotel whose official opening is scheduled for November 5, 2026.
Fly-cruise program
Of the 40 voyages, 29 belong to the Antarctica Fly Cruise program, each including a stay at The Cormorant at 55 South. Fourteen of those departures take place aboard Silver Endeavour, which flies over the Drake Passage in both directions, while another 15 one-way voyages combine a flight with a sea crossing of the Drake Passage, either southbound or northbound depending on the departure, aboard Silver Wind, Silver Cloud and Silver Endeavour. The remaining eleven voyages cross the Drake Passage by sea in both directions, sailing from Puerto Williams. All departures include charter flights, expedition experiences and Zodiac excursions.
The world's southernmost hotel
The Cormorant at 55 South is located in Puerto Williams, on Navarino Island, and is billed as the world's southernmost hotel, with 150 rooms according to Splash Cruise. The property is central to the Antarctica Fly Cruise program and is supported by Silversea charter flights between Santiago and Puerto Williams, the only direct air link between the Chilean capital and that location. Silversea expedition specialists will be stationed at the hotel to organize activities such as kayaking in the Beagle Channel, hiking on Navarino Island and horseback excursions led by a Patagonian baqueano (local guide).
Featured itineraries
Among the featured itineraries is Silver Wind's 18-night round-trip voyage from Puerto Williams, departing November 7, titled 'From the Falklands to the Peninsula.' Silver Cloud will operate four 15-night voyages combining South Georgia, Elephant Island and the Peninsula, with the first departure on November 9, as well as a 12-night round-trip voyage on December 9 that crosses the Antarctic Circle. Silver Wind will offer a 15-night Christmas cruise from Puerto Williams on December 22, and the longest voyage of the season will be Silver Endeavour's 21-night crossing, departing March 4, 2027, which will be the only one to end in Buenos Aires.
Silversea President Bert Hernandez noted that Antarctica is central to the company's expedition program and that this season offers guests even more ways to reach it, whether by following in the footsteps of explorers through the Falkland Islands and South Georgia en route to the Peninsula, or through the fly-cruise program boosted by the opening of The Cormorant at 55 South. According to Splash Cruise, Silversea, owned by Royal Caribbean, is thereby expanding its control over Antarctic expedition logistics by adding its own hotel, allowing it to directly manage accommodation, transfers and the organization of polar voyages.
