Tandanor completed repair and maintenance work on three sister squid-jigging fishing vessels, the HU SHUN YU 6, HU SHUN YU 7 and HU SHUN YU 8, each with a length overall of 70 meters and a beam of 10 meters. The work was part of the services the shipyard regularly provides to fishing fleet vessels, and was coordinated by Ship Superintendent Federico de Luca, with the involvement of different specialties according to each vessel's needs.
Work Common to All Three Vessels
Comprehensive hull and valve maintenance was carried out on all three vessels, including the replacement of cathodic protection anodes and surface cleaning by hydrojetting. After surface preparation, paint systems were applied to both the underwater hull and topsides, and the anchors and anchor chains were also cleaned and painted. Each vessel additionally underwent the corresponding technical inspections and checks.
HU SHUN YU 8: The Most Complex Intervention
The most complex work was concentrated on the HU SHUN YU 8, where the shaft line and propeller were removed and reinstalled, shaft straightness was verified, and bushings and sleeves were calibrated. The shipyard also carried out on-site machining of the stern tube bushing housing, seal renewal, hydraulic testing and checks on the steering and propulsion system. The package was rounded out with magnetic particle non-destructive testing, hull thickness gauging, freeboard checks and anchor chain inspection.
A Stabilizer Fin on the HU SHUN YU 7
On the HU SHUN YU 7, a stabilizer fin was repaired and checked using dye penetrant non-destructive testing. The vessel also underwent ultrasonic thickness gauging of the steel, anchor chain calibration and freeboard checks.
Valves and Sea Chests on the HU SHUN YU 6
The HU SHUN YU 6 required the removal and reinstallation of sea chest gratings, valve maintenance, anode replacement and surface treatments, along with the corresponding technical inspections.
