Transcend Cruises announced the appointment of Edie Rodriguez as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a member of the company's board of directors, replacing Gregg Marston. The appointment was confirmed by the company on October 22, 2026. Transcend specializes in chartered river cruises in Europe.
Mandate and Background
According to the company, Rodriguez will be responsible for strategic direction, brand development and the continued growth of Transcend, with a focus on distinctive and immersive guest experiences and on building a sustainable, profitable business. The executive brings experience leading brands such as Crystal Cruises, including Crystal River Cruises and Crystal Yacht Expedition Cruises, in addition to having held positions at Azamara, Cunard, Seabourn and Ponant. She has also served as a special advisor to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, sat on the board of the Saudi Tourism Authority, and advised the private equity firm Blackstone.
Statements
Transcend's board chairman, Shawn Horowitz according to Cruise Industry News (identified as Shawn Horwitz by Seatrade Cruise and Splash Cruise), described Rodriguez as a proven leader with a strong understanding of the luxury travel segment and a solid track record of driving growth. For her part, Rodriguez said Transcend is a true innovator and positive disruptor in the charter and MICE space for the experiential European river cruise market, and said she expects to grow the business profitably alongside the company's team.
Marston's Continued Involvement
The company thanked Gregg Marston for his leadership and contributions during his tenure as CEO. Marston will move into a role as a member of the board of directors, providing continuity and strategic perspective as Transcend advances into its next stage of development. The rest of the company's executive leadership team will remain in their roles alongside Rodriguez.
Fleet Expansion
The leadership change comes less than three months after Transcend introduced its first purpose-built vessel, the Connect, with capacity for 120 passengers, delivered in August and designed exclusively for corporate charters, meetings, incentives and private groups. The company projects having four vessels by 2028 and has a long-term goal of operating up to 12 ships.
