Ultracargo has started the expansion works at its terminal in the Suape Industrial and Port Complex, in Ipojuca, state of Pernambuco. The project increases the receiving, storage and dispatch capacity for fuels, biofuels and chemical products by 44,000 cubic meters. The company did not disclose the amount invested in the project, the number of tanks added, or the terminal's total capacity following the expansion.
Terminal Services
Ultracargo's terminal in Suape serves importers, exporters, distributors and industries established in the region, with infrastructure to store fuels, biofuels, chemical and petrochemical products. It has road access, proximity to industrial hubs, and provides vessel bunkering services. Ultracargo's president, Fulvius Tomelin, stated that the expansion reflects the company's long-term vision for the development of Brazil's logistics infrastructure and aims to support its customers' growth while strengthening strategic production chains.
Rising Demand in Suape
The expansion comes amid strong growth in cargo throughput at the Port of Suape. In the first quarter of 2026, liquid bulk handling at the port reached 4.2 million tonnes, a 43% jump compared to the same period the previous year. In August 2026, the port handled 2.73 million tonnes, the highest monthly volume in its history, of which 1.98 million tonnes corresponded to liquid bulk, a 61% year-on-year increase for that segment, driven, according to the port authority, by higher output from the Abreu e Lima Refinery (Rnest), which processes up to 130,000 barrels of oil per day.
National Fuel Consumption
The increased storage capacity also supports the growth in fuel consumption in Brazil. According to data from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) cited by one source, diesel sales exceeded 69 billion liters and gasoline sales totaled 46 million liters; another source, also based on ANP data, specified that sales of diesel B reached 69.47 billion liters in 2025, while gasoline C sales totaled 46.65 billion liters.
