Lloyd's Register approves first LNG carrier with forward accommodation equipped with Wind Challenger

Lloyd's Register has granted design approval for an LNG carrier from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries that incorporates Mitsui OSK Lines' Wind Challenger wind-assisted propulsion system. The project, jointly developed with LR, HHI, MOL, and the Maritime Administrator of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, represents the world's first LNG carrier with forward accommodation equipped with rigid sails. The evaluation confirms compliance with LR's WAPS notation for safe and effective application.
