Corpus Christi and U.S. Department of Transportation Agree to Explore Maritime Nuclear Reactors
Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy and Maritime Administrator Stephen M. Carmel met with leaders from the Port of Corpus Christi to initiate collaboration on small modular reactors (SMRs) for maritime applications. Through a Memorandum of Cooperation, they agreed to explore maritime energy systems, port microgrids, and ship propulsion. The port has experienced an 81% increase in LNG exports since 2022.
