SunStone's Ocean Explorer Marks Five Years in Expedition Cruising
The Ocean Explorer, delivered to SunStone Ships on July 14, 2021, recently completed five years of service. The 140-passenger expedition vessel, built at China Merchants Heavy Industry in Hainan, features cutting-edge technologies including an X-bow, dynamic positioning capabilities, and a Polar Code 6 hull. Currently operating for Quark Expeditions since October 2024, the ship sails year-round in both polar regions, with 2026 highlights including expeditions to the Northwest Passage, Falklands, South Georgia, and Antarctica.
