Port of Galveston Plans to Develop LNG Bunkering Facilities
The Port of Galveston announced a $40 million project to develop LNG bunkering facilities on Pelican Island, supporting cruise and cargo ships with cleaner fuel. The initiative includes a modular production facility and multi-use berth, funded through port reserves and federal and state grants. The port currently homeports Carnival's Jubilee and will welcome Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas in 2027 and Carnival's Tropicale in 2028.
