No Signs of Peace in the Gulf
From activity noted in the Gulf region and Strait of Hormuz area, there are few if any indications that a ceasefire or end to the war is imminent. The blockade of Iranian ships and ports continues unabated, with U.S. Central Command reporting the disabling of the Gambian-flagged MV Lianstar (IMO 9072692) on May 29 after it ignored warnings not to attempt reaching an Iranian port. Meanwhile, Iran's parliament advances legislation for the "Persian Gulf Strait Authority," while US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warns that anyone dealing with the authority faces US sanctions, effectively deterring global shipping lines from using Iranian waters.
