U.S. Military Denies Reported Restart of U.S. Naval Escorts in Strait of Hormuz
U.S. Central Command publicly denied reports that the U.S. Navy has resumed escorting commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz under Project Freedom, contradicting earlier reporting by The Wall Street Journal. CENTCOM stated the operation remains paused and U.S. forces are not currently escorting vessels. The denial follows reports of a Greek supertanker carrying roughly two million barrels of crude oil being guided out of the Persian Gulf by U.S. naval forces.
