Lot 1 of the PY21 route, which aims to connect the city of Puerto Indio (Paraguay) with Brazil, has entered its final stage. Work will now focus on the completion of the weighing platforms.
According to the website of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications of Paraguay (MOPC), "the new road will mark a before and after for some 25,000 inhabitants of the region, by guaranteeing permanent year-round transitability and transforming old dirt roads into a modern and safe corridor."
It was also added that "the paving of the road will also consolidate a strategic connection with Brazil, facilitating the transport of agricultural produce and significantly reducing logistics costs for the agro-export sector. This will strengthen regional trade and boost the competitiveness of Alto Paraná."
Finally, it was reported that "section 1 comprises 27 kilometers from the junction with PY07 and is being carried out by the company Benito Roggio e Hijos S.A., under the supervision of the MOPC. The initiative is financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF)."
