Antaq uses drones to inspect operations in ports and waterways
The National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) is expanding the use of drones to inspect operations, vessels, and facilities in hard-to-reach areas. The initiative, aligned with the National Policy for Port Research, Development, and Innovation established in September 2026 by the Ministry of Ports and Airports, began testing in 2016 and was formalized in 2019 at the Porto Velho Regional Unit (UREPV). The technology allows for the observation of inaccessible points and produces information to guide inspection efforts.
