Senators Urge Trump Administration to Reinstate Port Fees on Chinese Ships
U.S. Senators Mark Kelly and Elizabeth Warren are pressing the Trump administration to reinstate Section 301 port fees on Chinese-linked vessels, suspended in November 2025. The senators argue the measures are critical to rebuilding America's shipbuilding industry, citing that China now produces over half of global commercial vessels while U.S. shipyards account for just 0.1%. They contend the suspension has undermined efforts to restore U.S. maritime capacity and are requesting responses by June 21.
