Líneas Romero Puts Two New Vessels into Operation in the Canary Islands

Líneas Romero is moving forward to offer increasingly efficient, comfortable, and sustainable maritime transport in the Canary Islands, with the start of operations of its two new vessels, the María Rosa R and the Juan Jorge R, which were delivered in early July.

"These additions reinforce our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, allowing us to offer a travel experience tailored to the needs of residents and visitors who rely on us every day to discover the islands," stated Líneas Romero.

Each vessel has been designed to meet specific needs. The María Rosa R is a state-of-the-art catamaran intended for maritime excursions, especially strengthening routes to Papagayo and sunset trips. It features spacious panoramic decks, greater comfort during navigation, improved accessibility, and a more agile and digitized boarding process to offer an even more pleasant experience.

On the other hand, the Juan Jorge R fast ferry, with a capacity for 360 passengers and a speed of up to 20 knots, offers a fast and comfortable service between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with capacity for 350 guests, strengthening both passenger and cargo transport between both islands.

With these additions, 85% of Líneas Romero's fleet is less than eight years old, reflecting a strategy of constant renewal that has been driven for years. This process has seen the addition of vessels such as the Juanita Cat, the Don Juan R, the Alexandro R, and the Luis R, consolidating a modern fleet prepared to offer a safe, efficient, and quality service.

Innovation also means navigating more responsibly. Both the María Rosa R and the Juan Jorge R have been constructed with reinforced fiberglass, a material that reduces the vessel's weight and allows for decreased fuel consumption. Furthermore, both incorporate latest-generation MTU engines, which optimize energy efficiency and comply with international emission regulations.

These improvements are in addition to the environmental commitment maintained for years through the measurement of its carbon footprint, Biosphere Committed certification, and the Excelsior recognition from Soy Canary Green.

As is tradition in the company, the new vessels are named after family members. On this occasion, two of the Romero siblings are honored, highlighting the legacy of a family business that, generation after generation, continues to connect the islands with the same enthusiasm with which it began almost a century ago.
