As part of an investigation into an alleged violation of the Law for the Prevention and Punishment of Human Trafficking, agents of the Argentine Naval Prefecture raided a property located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Devoto, where a 'private' establishment operated, and assisted possible victims of the crime.
The measure aimed to inspect the premises, identify individuals linked to the investigated activity, and seize electronic devices, documentation, and other elements of interest to the case.
During the operation, five adult women were identified: four of them were singled out as possible victims, while the other was in charge of the establishment's administration and is believed to be one of the individuals under investigation.
As a result of the procedure, law enforcement personnel seized a precision scale, three cell phones, cash, notes related to the investigated activity, and bank transfer receipts. The total value of the seized items was estimated at over $1,500,000.
It is worth noting that the investigation began in February of this year following a report made through Line 145, which alerted authorities to the alleged existence of activities consistent with a human trafficking network. Since then, specialized Prefecture personnel carried out investigative tasks that allowed them to gather elements of interest for the case and led to the judicial measure being carried out.
Meanwhile, professionals from the Coordination for the Rescue and Accompaniment of Persons Affected by the Crime of Human Trafficking interviewed the women present, with the aim of providing them assistance and evaluating their situation, while personnel from the National Directorate of Migration carried out the corresponding document control for the foreign citizens present at the location, confirming that they had valid migratory documentation.
It should be noted that the procedure was ordered by National Criminal and Federal Correctional Court No. 7, headed by Dr. Sebastián Norberto Casanello, Secretariat No. 13, and was carried out with the intervention of National Criminal and Federal Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 8, headed by Dr. Eduardo R. Taiano.
Once the raid was concluded, and by order of the intervening magistrate, the property was closed down.
