The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, based on United Nations foreign trade data for the close of 2025, reported that Argentina achieved a record in agro-industrial exports that placed 52 Argentine products among the top 20 global exporters. Of that total, 26 products ranked among the top five, and eight reached first place in the global ranking: sunflower oil, soybean oil, lemon essential oil, lemon juice, peanuts, soybean meal, sunflower meal, and yerba mate.
Notable Rankings
According to the survey, products such as garlic, dried plums, corn, frozen hake, grape must, soybeans, common beans, and sorghum ranked third worldwide. Horse meat, whole milk powder, honey, and peanut preparations ranked fourth. The list also included, between fifth and tenth place, beef, wine, pears, greasy wool, orange juice, olive oil, wheat, chickpeas, tea, olives, raisins, and alfalfa, among other products from more than 35 of the country's value chains.
The Weight of the Soybean Complex
Within that universe, the soybean, oil, and byproduct complex generated exports of around 15,600 million dollars in 2025. Argentina remained the world's leading exporter of soybean oil and meal, and ranked third in unprocessed soybeans. Soybean oil alone accounted for 6,868 million dollars, equivalent to 44% of the complex's value, with shipments totaling 6.73 million tons during the year.
Export Destinations
India was the top buyer of Argentine soybean oil, with 3.64 million tons worth 3,712 million dollars, representing 54% of the product's exports by value. Bangladesh received about 479,000 tons worth 487 million dollars, while Pakistan accounted for nearly 60,000 tons. Canada received around 355,000 tons, and Peru took in 305,500 tons, becoming the leading South American destination. In Africa, Morocco received 159,500 tons and Mozambique around 115,600, with additional shipments to Angola and Senegal, plus smaller volumes to the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, Chile, and Jamaica.
Logistics and Foreign Trade Policies
The official agency attributed the improved global positioning to policies such as the elimination and reduction of export duties, streamlined paperwork, and the opening of more than 600 markets, along with technological investments by producers. Sources agreed that sustaining this performance requires logistics capacity to connect production regions with ports and international markets, with the Gran Rosario port system serving as the country's main hub for processing and shipping oilseed complex products.
