Boluda Towage has acquired 100% of Muller Dordrecht, a Dutch company specializing in offshore towage, heavy transport and marine projects. The deal, announced on November 4, brings into the group a fleet of 16 tugs, seven of them dedicated to offshore activities, and eight barges. The acquired company will now operate under the name Boluda Muller Towage.
International growth strategy
Muller's specialized activities will continue to develop alongside Boluda Towage Europe's operations, backed by the resources and international reach of the organization. Vicente Boluda Ceballos, Executive Chairman of Boluda Towage, framed the acquisition within the group's international growth strategy and highlighted the reputation Muller has built over more than a century, as well as the specialized offshore towage capabilities it brings to serve clients on an international scale. None of the sources disclosed the value of the transaction.
More than a century of history
Muller Dordrecht was founded by Teun Muller in 1918 and developed its business in close connection with Dutch infrastructure, taking part in the Zuiderzee works and the Delta Works, two major hydraulic engineering projects in the country, as well as the transport and placement of bridges after World War II. In 1983 it incorporated Hak Heavy Transport, dedicated to cargo transport and lifting in Europe, and since 1987 it has operated harbor towage in Dordrecht and Moerdijk, later expanding its fleet into coastal and longer-range maritime towage.
Offshore specialization and infrastructure projects
Among its specialties, Muller offers offshore towage, rig moves and anchor handling, with experience in the North Sea and the Baltic for clients in the oil, gas and offshore wind sectors, including the towage of monopiles and offshore substations for the construction of wind farms. The company also provides heavy transport, cargo lifting, load testing for crane vessels, and round-the-clock emergency response and salvage along the North Sea and English Channel coasts, citing among its references its involvement in the Fehmarnbelt tunnel, which connects Denmark and Germany.
The incorporated fleet
Muller's maritime fleet includes a 120-tonne bollard pull ASD tug with FiFi2 capability and 90-tonne units such as the En Avant 25, in addition to the En Avant 19, a 65-tonne tug brought into the fleet in March 2026 for offshore and river work. Its barges are flat-deck Ro-Ro units, most of them dual-classed for river and sea service, with the largest measuring 100.23 meters in length overall and a capacity of 16,500 tonnes. The purchase adds to other recent moves by Boluda in Dutch waters, such as the addition of the tugs VB Foxtrot and VB Fantastic in Rotterdam.
