The four ports managed by Companhia das Docas do Estado da Bahia (Codeba) handled 15.8 million tonnes of cargo between January and September 2026, representing growth of 22.49% compared to the same period in 2025. The result combines operations at the ports of Aratu-Candeias, Salvador and Ilhéus, in Bahia, and Itajaí, in Santa Catarina.
Among the cargoes driving the results were fertilizers, chemical products, fuels and containerized cargo. The performance maintained the trend seen throughout the year: in the first half, the four ports had already handled 10.18 million tonnes.
Performance by port
Aratu-Candeias posted the largest volume among the Bahia ports, with 6.1 million tonnes and growth of 35.96%. An industrial port, it specializes in dry, liquid and gas bulk cargo, with a strong presence of fertilizers, chemical products and fuels linked to the petrochemical industry. The Port of Salvador, focused on containers and general cargo, handled 5.6 million tonnes, up 12.68%, and maintains a weekly service with China; according to foreign trade data, the port handled 162,032 TEUs in deep-sea export and import operations.
In southern Bahia, the Port of Ilhéus recorded 166 thousand tonnes, up 3.68%, handling cargo linked to the region's agricultural and mineral production, such as cocoa and nickel. The Port of Itajaí, in Santa Catarina, also managed by Codeba, handled 3.8 million tonnes, up 19.94%, with most of its activity concentrated in containerized cargo linked to foreign trade.
Codeba's president, Antonio Gobbo, attributed the results to federal investments in port infrastructure, management efficiency and the work of the company's employees. According to Gobbo, the company projects revenue of R$471 million (US$87.7 million) in 2026, a profit of R$25 million (US$4.6 million) and investments of R$150 million.
