DP World Callao reached a new historic record by handling 200,000 TEUs during October 2026, the highest monthly volume of containerized cargo recorded in its history. The milestone corresponds to the Muelle Sur terminal and, according to the company, reflects the responsiveness of its operations, backed by sustained investments in infrastructure, technology and equipment, as well as the work of its staff.
Company Statements
Marco Hernández, general manager of DP World Callao, stated that the record reflects the dynamism of Peru's foreign trade and the importance of having modern, efficient port infrastructure serving the country. He added that behind every container handled are companies, jobs and development opportunities that contribute to the growth of the economy.
Infrastructure Challenges
According to the sources, this new milestone puts into perspective the challenges facing national port infrastructure amid growing cargo volumes, the evolving size of vessels, and the increasing efficiency demands of international logistics chains.
Current Capacity and Projections
DP World Callao currently has a 1,050-meter-long berth, 10 gantry cranes and an installed capacity of up to 2.7 million TEUs per year. Hernández noted that the projected growth in demand makes it necessary to continue evaluating investments to progressively expand operational capacity, anticipate market needs and keep pace with the growth of the Peruvian economy, with a long-term vision that strengthens the country's competitiveness.
Growth Trajectory
The monthly record adds to the terminal's growth trajectory, which in 2025 surpassed 2 million TEUs handled in a year for the first time, consolidating its contribution to Peru's connectivity with major international markets.
