DP World will launch a new weekly container shipping service called China Africa Link at the end of November 2026, connecting major Chinese export hubs with ports in East and Southern Africa, specifically Tanzania and Mozambique. The service will be operated by the company's Shipping Solutions AMEA division.
The new service's port rotation will include Shanghai, Ningbo and Nansha in China, Port Klang Westport in Malaysia, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Maputo in Mozambique and Singapore, before returning to Shanghai. According to DP World, the service aims to provide additional routing options for cargo moving between the Far East and Africa, supporting trade flows in both established and emerging markets.
The launch is part of DP World's Connected Trade Corridors strategy, which integrates shipping services, port infrastructure and inland transport to improve connectivity across international supply chains. Ganesh Raj, DP World's Global Head of Shipping Services, said that global trade is shifting and that customers need reliable connections, greater choice and flexibility to adapt to evolving trade patterns.
The new service will carry a wide range of goods, including machinery, electronics, construction materials and automotive components from China, alongside African exports such as agricultural products, minerals and other raw materials.
The launch adds to DP World's investments in African port infrastructure. In Mozambique, the company is carrying out a $165 million expansion of the Maputo container terminal, designed to more than double its handling capacity, while in Tanzania it has committed more than $500 million to the modernization of the Port of Dar es Salaam.
