Everllence and Babcock International Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the delivery and future development of the Arrowhead frigate platform, with Everllence as the strategic partner for propulsion and power systems on future Arrowhead programmes.
Scope of the collaboration
Under the memorandum, both parties will evaluate new propulsion architectures, additional frigate variants and export opportunities, including naval requirements in Denmark — such as the Arctic Frigate project — and in other international markets. They will also examine maintenance and through-life support models that combine the industrial capabilities of the United Kingdom and Denmark.
Statements from executives
Sir Nick Hine, of Babcock, noted that Arrowhead has established itself as one of the world's leading frigate designs and that the partnership with Everllence will enable customers to be offered industrial expertise, innovation and long-term support. For his part, Thomas Leander, of Everllence, stated that the agreement marks an important step in deepening the relationship between the two companies and that it will seek to identify new areas of cooperation for future naval capabilities.
The Arrowhead platform
The Arrowhead 140 is a modular frigate design developed by Babcock from Denmark's Iver Huitfeldt class, conceived as a flexible base platform that each navy can customise with its own weapons systems, sensors and propulsion. The design has already been selected for naval programmes in the United Kingdom, Poland and Indonesia, and the first of three Polish Miecznik-class frigates was recently launched to continue its outfitting.
