India's ambassador to Argentina, Ajaneesh Kumar, visited Puerto Quequén to learn about its infrastructure, agro-export operations and the region's trade opportunities. The agenda included meetings with authorities, a tour of the port facilities and boarding a vessel that was loading sunflower oil bound for India.
Institutional Meeting
The activity began on Friday, October 30, when the diplomat was received by the chairman of the Consorcio de Gestión de Puerto Quequén, Ernesto Povilaitis Giovazzino. The meeting and lunch took place at the Consortium's Board facilities, with the participation of Juan Carlos Peralta, the municipal representative on the board and general secretary of URGARA Seccional Necochea. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss possible trade links between India and the agro-export chain of southeastern Buenos Aires province.
Tour of the Quequén Bank and Sitio 0
After the meeting, the delegation toured the port's primary zone on the Quequén bank, where the ambassador learned about navigation conditions, the operational draft of 50 feet and the ongoing renovation works on the berth infrastructure. The day continued at the Sitio 0 S.A. terminal, where general manager Mauricio Miguel welcomed the delegation and presented the grain storage and loading processes.
Visit Aboard the Vessel
On Sunday, November 1, at midday, Ambassador Kumar boarded a vessel that had called at Puerto Quequén to load sunflower oil bound for India. Accompanied by the captain, he toured various areas of the ship, spoke with the crew and learned how work is organized on board during the port call, in addition to observing the coordination between the ship's crew and the dock teams. The visit was made possible through arrangements by the shipping agency Brisamar and the cooperation of the Prefectura Naval Argentina.
Trade Opportunities
Povilaitis Giovazzino emphasized that this engagement within the agenda with India represents a key link for the local value chain. According to sources, the visit allowed the Indian diplomatic delegation to see Puerto Quequén's capacity to receive vessels, store goods and handle agro-export cargoes, opening the door to dialogue on possible trade links with the region.
