StormGeo Links s-Insight Platform with China Classification Society via API

StormGeo has linked its environmental platform s-Insight with China Classification Society (CCS) through an API that allows shipping companies to send verified emissions data directly to the classification society, eliminating a manual step in environmental compliance reporting.
How the integration works
Companies using s-Insight to manage their environmental compliance can now share their validated emissions data with CCS through this digital connection, which, according to the companies, improves data quality and traceability throughout the entire verification process, reducing the need to transfer information manually between systems.
Expansion in the Chinese market
The agreement is part of a broader push by StormGeo, a company within the Alfa Laval group, to grow in China, where it currently supports around 700 vessels with greenhouse gas emissions reporting and ship performance monitoring. Espen Martinsen, Chief Commercial Officer at StormGeo, noted that Chinese shipping plays a leading role in the transformation of global maritime transport and that the company aims to be an active and reliable partner in that development, investing in local capabilities, partnerships and technology.
CCS's perspective
Before launching the API, CCS conducted an on-site evaluation of the performance and security of StormGeo's systems, which met the adaptation and interface requirements set by the Chinese classification society. Wei Chong, Software Development Manager at CCS, highlighted the maturity of StormGeo's emissions data collection software and its adaptability to different vessel types, emission sources and fuels. CCS carries out MARPOL Annex VI document approval and emissions data verification on behalf of flag administrations such as China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Greece, Liberia and the Marshall Islands.
Background of the partnership
The connection with CCS follows a similar integration StormGeo established in 2024 with Japan's ClassNK, when it linked s-Insight with that classification society's MRV portal to transfer emissions data via API for regulatory reporting such as MRV and EU ETS. In addition, the previous week StormGeo expanded its maritime software offering with the acquisition of Copenhagen-based firm Portchain, which adds real-time berth planning and port call data to its voyage optimization portfolio.
