Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso (TPS) earned two prevention awards at the annual ceremony held by the Instituto de Seguridad del Trabajo (IST), which recognizes companies and individuals that achieve the highest standards in risk prevention management.
Two separate awards
The first was the "2026 Outstanding Joint Committee Management" award, given to TPS's Joint Health and Safety Committee (CPHS) for the Dock area, in recognition of its contribution to workers' health and safety. The second was the "2026 Prevention Management Distinction," awarded to Carlos Vásquez Inda, the company's HSE manager, for his contribution to the prevention activities that drove TPS's achievements in workplace accident prevention.
Voices from the award recipients
Juan Carlos Rojas, chairman of TPS's Dock Joint Health and Safety Committee—the body that received the national-level award—stated that safety and people's lives come before any operation, and highlighted that the committee's hands-on work and daily presence allow it to understand the realities of operations and the needs of workers. For his part, Carlos Vásquez, TPS's HSE manager, said that in a highly complex operational environment where port equipment, vehicles, contractors and company personnel all converge, safety is a strategic pillar for the company's sustainability and operational excellence.
IST's perspective
Ximena Cerpa, Prevention Deputy Manager at IST's Central Zone Management Office, said the institute is proud to support this process and to maintain a strategic alliance with TPS focused on protecting lives. She added that this reflects collaborative work among union leaders, management, workers and the company's committees, and expressed pride that TPS was recognized both nationally and regionally among the many participating organizations.
