Fitch Upgrades Galveston Port Bond Rating to A+ on Cruise Growth
Fitch Ratings upgraded Galveston Wharves' revenue bonds from A to A+ on August 21, 2026, reflecting sustained cruise activity growth and strong financial performance. Approximately $198.5 million in bonds were issued in 2024 for the port's fourth cruise terminal. Port director Rodger Rees noted the upgrade will lower borrowing costs and support long-term growth plans, including a fifth cruise terminal and a $106 million cargo complex expansion.
