Lloyd's Register publishes guidance for 3D digital ship design models
Lloyd's Register published LR-GN-066 Guidance Notes for Digital 3D Models, the maritime industry's first dedicated framework for using digital 3D models in classification approval through Regs4ships. The guidance provides shipyards, designers and owners with a structured approach to replace traditional 2D plans during early structural plan approval stages. According to senior specialist Joao Estevens, the framework defines information requirements, structure and review processes, helping clients maximize digital assets already created throughout a vessel's lifecycle.
